After
the outbreak of hate campaign against the Bollywood super star Amir Khan, the
Indian showbiz society has divided into two groups. There are people, though
much less in number, who are openly supporting Amir Khan and his stance and
then there are actors, directors and other showbiz personalities, far more in
number, who had eventually gone in the background, have found an opportunity to
emerge for a rebirth.
Irrespective
of it that what Amir Khan said, one thing has emerged out clearly that the
fears Amir Khan had are proving true and its proved that the majority of the
Indian society has been made hostage by the radical Hindus who have picked up
the courage after Modi’s taking oath as the prime minister of India. If we
closely look back at the period after Narendra Modi’s swearing-in then one can
see that such events have picked up the speed. The incidents happened one after
the other without even a break. The Indians have not forgotten the killing of
an aged Kannada writer Dr. MM Kalburgi in his house and from a point blank
range allegedly for his views on idol worship and Hindu rituals. the other incident
that took place just one month after the first one was when the family of a
52-year old
Muslim
Mohammad Akhlaq Saifi of village Bisara near Dadri, UP, India was attacked
by an angry and furious mob after an announcement was made through the public
address system of a local temple by two unknown youngsters that Akhlaq’s family
had killed a cow and consumed its meat on Eid ul Adha. The family had been
living in the village for about 70 years; however the mob carrying batons,
swords and pistols didn’t care for it and arrived at Mohammad Akhlaq’s house.
The family had finished dinner and was going to sleep. The mob accused them of
consuming beef. They found some meat in the refrigerator and seized it. But the
family insisted it was mutton. The mob dragged the family outside. Akhlaq and
Danish were repeatedly kicked, hit with bricks and stabbed. These are few of
those innumerable shameful incidents of violence and aggression those have
happened in the recent past, while a large number of such events where
intolerance of the Indian society is prominently visible happened in the past.
People
have not forgotten what Modi as the chief minister did with Sabarmati Express.
After Godhra incident the burning of Samjhota Express by the Hindu extremists
is another stigma on secular India’s face. It may be recalled that 88 people
were burnt alive in the incident of burning the Samjhota Express. Most of the
dead were Pakistanis. The notorious terrorist, Swami Aseem Anand, was not only
involved in the attack on Samjhota Express but had also murdered 119 persons
while the so-called secular Indian government of the BJP was avoiding action
against Anand’s bail and was supporting the terrorist. This Hindu terrorist
Aseem Anand was also involved in the blasts in Makkah Masjid, Hyderabad Deccan
in the year 2007. Eleven people were killed in those blasts. The terrorist was
also involved in the bomb blast at Dargah Ajmer Sharif in Rajhasthan in October
same year. Three people had lost their lives in that incident. Similarly, Anand
was also responsible for attacks on Muslim community in Malay Gaon with
explosives, where the explosions left 37 people dead. So extremely horrible are
Aseem Anand’s crimes that a responsible newspaper of India determined him as
the ugliest face of terrorism. However the tragic part is that such heinous
crimes against the Muslims categorically and the other minorities generally are
openly encouraged. The same thing is happening now in Amir Khan’s case when he
expressed his views about the intolerant
Indian
society, immediately he not only received the severe criticism but has also
been targeted for the discrimination, hate and threats. Instead of registering
the cases against the radical culprits, the cases of mutiny have been
registered against Amir Khan in various states. Lately people have been
provoked and encouraged to take the law in their own hands and physically
manhandle Amir Khan by issuing a decree that whosoever slaps on Amir Khan’s
face will be rewarded rupees one lac. Obviously, everyone would be much
interested to bag this handsome amount thus poor Amir Khan should mentally be
ready to receive hundred of slaps daily if the government doesn’t provide him
and his family the fool proof security.
This is enough to prove that Amir
Khan’s apprehensions were absolutely true. His life along with the lives of the
millions of other Muslims of India is absolutely in danger especially when a
radical person is the prime minister of India and who cheerfully patronize the
genocides of Muslims and the other communities. There are sane voices that
exist in the Indian society but those can be counted on fingers thus are
helpless. The time has come to wake the conscience of the human rights
watchdogs who make hue and cry when a very minor event takes place in Pakistan.
