Stepping up their protests against intolerance in the country, another writer Marghoob Banihali has now returned his Sahitya Akademi award. The renowned Kashmiri poet and writer made the announcement on Monday saying that he is returning the award in protest against the murder of Kashmiri Muslim truck Zahid Bhat over rumours of cow slaughtering. Zahid succumbed to his injuries on Sunday after he was attacked in Udhampur on October 9. Banihali joins a group of over 30 prominent literary figures to have returned their awards in protest.
