A global writers group has severely criticized India for
intolerance against minorities and its antiquated laws to silence
dissent.
Britain based Pen International says survey of authors, lawyers,
activists and journalists this year found that the culture of intolerance has
taken root in India and has grown more menacing.
It adds that defamation,
sedition and laws pertaining to hate speech are being misused to severely
restrict freedom of expression.
